Hello from a Bluebell Buddy

Hi! My name is Jodi and I am the North Bristol Buddy for Bluebell Care. I'd just like to run you through a bit of what you can expect from myself and the other Buddies within Bluebell Care.

The buddy service we offer is reached via a referral from your health visitor, midwife, GP or you can find the forms on our website and make a self-referral.

During our first meeting at your home, or somewhere you feel most comfortable we will sit and we will just chat together, get to know one another and I will hopefully develop a clearer picture of how you have been feeling recently. From there we will have 4 more sessions to see what we can put in place or what tools we can equip you with to better manage how you are feeling.

Having lived experience of post-natal depression myself I never judge or tell anyone what they need to do; I just try to ensure that you feel supported enough to start making your own way forwards to feeling yourself again.

As Christmas is coming soon our current Mums’ Comfort Zone groups delivered in partnership with Children’s Centres are  now winding down. These therapeutic groups take place over 12 weeks and are for mums experiencing perinatal mental illness and aim to equip you with tools useful for managing day to day life. We look at everything from home routines, learn about anxiety, self-esteem and also offer the opportunity to explore crafts and even some yoga! There truly is something for every mum here.

I am so incredibly passionate about my work within the Mothers Comfort Zone groups and as a Buddy in the community and I love seeing the progress each mummy makes individually. The key thing I want to leave with you is: you are not alone and asking for help is the biggest step, the rest will follow.
Our Mums’ Comfort Zone courses start again in January so there is still time to join us for the first course of 2019, if you’re quick!  Check out our website for more information or call the office on 0117 922 0746 to find out more..
